Look of the Day: White Whisper
Chanel’s Haute Couture Spring 2009 runway show seemed to focus primarily on whites, with soft/heavenly faces and slightly colored lips. If I’d seen these images before I’d done the tutorial, I’d have made it truer in fashion to what they’d done at the fashion show, but since I’ve already done it, you’ll be seeing my own spin on it. :)
Anyway, White Whisper is truly one of my favorite Chanel quads that I own, as the colors are quite unique, and let’s face it – that ethereal look is hot! ♥ So, if you’d like to replicate the look, please read below.
First of all, tools used:

So, this look is actually pretty simple. The way in which I’d differed is that I’d added blue eyeliner on the bottom lash line, along with paler lips (since I’d actually had them darker initially, but it didn’t seem to go with that fairy princess look I was trying to achieve). Here’s how I turned out:

Apply foundation, concealer, and powder as you normally would. I used my Dior foundation (with Chanel #16 and the Sonia Kashuk Flat Blusher brush) because it gave me a soft-lit/glowy look, which I thought went really well with the white colors.
I like to start with my brows, so I used the Shu Uemura Hard Formula pencil since it applies very naturally (since you don’t want your eyebrows to be the center of focus with this look). With a spoolie, brush your eyebrows in place, and then pencil in the spotty areas of your brows, accentuating the arch in a subtle way.
With the Chanel #2 brush, take the peach color up to your crease, and then switch over to the pink to take it from the crease all the way up to the brow. Blend in as you go along, adding the white with a light hand underneath the arch of the brow and in the inner corners of your eyes. (If you want this look intensified, add the white initially as an all-over wash. What I actually did was, I took the pearl side of my eye light pencil and blended it all over my eyelid with a blending brush.)
Next, take the Chanel #3 (crease brush), and add a small amount of the charcoal gray to the outer corners, making sure to blend really well, so the dark color isn’t too intense. Blend it inward, and run the crease brush along your crease to make your eyes appear larger.
Using stila #28, dip the brush into your black gel liner, and line only the tops of your eyes (as close to the lashes as possible). Keep the line thin, adding the flick/wing at the edge of the eye (making it gradually thicker as you get farther out to the edge). With your blue eye liner (Denim), line your lower lids generously (to give your eyes a bit of a pop), and then add white eye liner on the inner rim to make your eyes appear larger and more awake.
Now, with the SK highlighter brush, swirl it around in the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, and add it to the contours of your face (you can suck in your cheeks if needed to see where to apply). Add it onto your face in a “C” shape, (imagine a large “C” starting from the lower contours of your cheeks up past your brows). With the Chanel #7 blush brush, add the In Love blush to the apples of your cheeks, which will give you a nice flush of color. :)
With the Essence of Beauty foundation brush, add the Fleurs Célestes highlighter and pat it gently underneath the entire eye area. Curl your lashes, add mascara, and voila, you’re (almost) done! Add the JK lipstick to your lips for a nude, frosty look, and your look is complete.
One of these days, when I know at least one person is reading my tutorial, I’ll make a picture or video version of it, haha. ;)
